With over 11 years of experience in catering, restaurant and food truck ownership, Executive Chef of Catering Alex Ranucci is a jack of all trades in the kitchen.

Born and raised in upstate New York, he is completely self-taught in the culinary arts which is a testament to his tenacity and enthusiasm. Growing up in an Italian family, cooking and sharing family meals have always been an integral part of his memories. When Alex relocated to North Carolina back in 2002, he fell in love with the local culinary scene. He is constantly discovering and combining unexpected flavor profiles to bring something new to the table.

In his spare time, you’ll find him doing what he does best – cooking and hosting barbecues for friends and family.

Kevin Kuruc is an award-winning chef and passionate pitmaster with a background in various cuisines and culinary styles, Kuruc brings his expertise and excellence to overseeing Red Star, with an eclectic take on the traditional.

Earning his stripes cooking at famed restaurants throughout the East Coast, Kuruc has been with the Mac’s Hospitality family for almost a decade, bringing his keen eye and knack for unique flavors to tables throughout the Charlotte area.

Kevin is well-respected in the culinary and barbecue worlds, and he has been featured on outlets including ESPN, Golf Channel and various local Charlotte broadcast affiliates and print publications.
